The 2018 Sportspick NRL Super Tipper National competition was once again hotly contested and has concluded with a 2 way tie for each of the top spot on the national leaderboard.
Congratulations to Kathleen Barber of East Maitland Bowling Club NSW and Paul Magnay from The Sun Bistro (Byron Bay NSW) who tipped the 7 of 8 winning teams in round 25 to finish 2 clear of their rivals with a score of 128 correct tips to each take home $13,500 cash.
In 2016 147 correct tips was the top score so tipping in 2018 has been relatively tough with plenty of upsets and sees an the top 8 teams going into the finals series all with a chance for premiership glory.
Congratulations also go to Lionel Williams of Bathurst RSL Club NSW who finished in 3rd place for a $3000 pay day.
Not to forget all the Local Venue NRL competition winners and a big thank you goes out to all the Sportspick Captains' who manage their local venue comps around the Sportspick network.
This year the final round results saw the eventual top 3 tippers maintain their positions from round 24 with 7 favourites saluting and thus providing little opportunity for the chasing pack to claw back the lead.
The Knockout competitions were decided prior to the final this year with plenty of upsets early in the season. Gary North from Northies Cronulla Hotel NSW wins with the KO1 comp lasting through to round 20 to take home the $2500 KO1 prize.
KO2 was won by Kevin Frankland of C.ex Coffs - Coffs Harbour NSW outlasted everyone in KO2 by steering clear of the Roosters in R23 unlike the other 6 tippers (who remained alive) who all tipped the Roosters when they were upset by the Raiders. As a result, Kevin will be $2500 the better for his stand in avoiding that R23 match.
The ever popular Team Supporter bar fridge prizes were up for grabs again in 2018 and a list of winners is below.
A Sportspick branded bar fridge in team colours goes out to each of the leading tippers for each NRL Team.
Note: # indicates that the team supporter prize winner was determined by a margin score tiebreaker.
Remember also that the Spring Carnival tipping comp is open for tipping and you have the opportunity to win cash prizes and also a trip for 2 to the NT to attend the Darwin races as a thoroughbred racehorse owner for the day!
Look out for the return of the Friday Night Summer Racing and Big Bash League comps starting in December and good Luck with your Spring Racing tipping!
