Thu 14 May - AFL Tipping COVID-19 Update

As Sportspick is not an online tipping competition and many entrants do not have access to online tipping the following decisions have been made in relation to the 2020 AFL tipping competition.

Tipping on local venue competitions will resume in venues when they are permitted to reopen to the public.   There will be no online tipping permitted so tippers at local venue level are not disadvantaged.

The National prize pool will not be offered in 2020 due to the COVID-19 situation and difficultly in patrons accessing venues to submit tips where there is inequity created with different States and Territories permitting pubs and clubs to reopen on different timelines.

Local venue competitions will recommence at such a time when respective venues can reopen to the general public to allow access to the tipping terminal in venue.

Venues can still conduct their respective local in house competitions once they are permitted to open doors again to the public.

Due to varying timelines in place for the reopening of Pubs and Clubs across the various States and Territories, tipping will recommence on the AFL season at the local venue competition level when a venue is able to reopen and patrons are permitted to visit to submit tips.

Your local AFL tipping competition will resume when your venue opens again for trade to the public.  Venues will have discretion as to at which round their local competition will restart.  ie. if a venue is not open for AFL round 2, then the venue scoreboard will be populated with the default (away team) scores for that round so that all local tippers scoreboard ladder positions are protected as they were at round 1 until the local competition is able to resume.

Some venues will restart as of round 2 others in rounds 3,4,5,6 etc.  The round on which a venue elects to resume the competition is flexible and this is to cater for the differing opening times of venues subject to the Govt restrictions in place regarding the number of patrons etc.  Under this scenario, all tippers in a local comp are tipping under the same conditions, and as such the integrity of each local competition is protected.

Remember to support your local venue by visiting when they reopen again and good luck with your tipping.

Regards,

The Sportspick Team
