The 2016 Sportspick NRL Super Tipper National competition was hotly contested and has concluded with a stand alone winner for each of the top prize of $20,000!. Congratulations to Toni-Anne Hart of the C.ex Coffs Club who tipped the perfect round to finish 1 clear of her rivals with 147 correct tips to take home the $20,000 first prize.
In 2015 130 was good enough to win but with the Rabbits slow to start and Newcastle floundering all season, there were a few cheap points to be had this each week!
Congratulations also go to Ken Smith (Churchills Sports Bar, Kingsford NSW), Julie-Anne O'Malley (Tomakin Sports & Social Club, Tomakin NSW) and Sean 'Agro' Smith (Surf Club Coolangatta, Coolangatta QLD) who finished in 2nd equal place.
Congratulations go out to all the Local Venue NRL competition winners and a big thank you to all the Sportspick Captains' who conduct their local venue comps around the Sportspick network.
This year the final round saw the final round leaderboard change dramatically with Toni-Anne leap-frogging the half dozen ahead of her by tipping the round and scoring 8 points. Those in contention either went for the Home teams or odds on favourites, both resulted in a score of 6 which allowed the chasing pack the opportunity to make ground in the final round of 2016. Only 7 people in the top 100 managed to tip all 8 winnesr so admittedly, it was a good effort to get into top spot by Toni-Anne.
The Knockout competitions were decided in week one of the finals series. There were 5 tippers who remained alive going into the finals series and all 5 were eliminated when the Sharks upset the Raiders in Canberra in game 2. March Perch from Caulfield Glasshouse VIC wins with the highest cumulative margin score of all his KO selections throughout the comp (tie breaker) to take home the $2500 KO1 prize.
KO2 was won by Noel Hamilton of Dubbo RSL Memorial Club NSW who outlasted the 30 remaining tippers in KO2 by tipping the Sharks in the upset whereas all other entrants went for the Raiders. Smart or brave move by Noel? either way he will be $2500 the better for his stand on that match.
Some great new bar fridge prizes were introduced last year in 2015 in the form of the 'Team Supporter' sub comps and a list of 2016 winners is below.
A Sportspick branded bar fridge in team colours goes out to each of the leading tippers for each NRL Team.
Note: # indicates that the team supporter prize winner was determined by a margin score tiebreaker.
Don't forget that the NRL Finals comp starts next week. Look for the button with the NRL Premiership Trophy on the tipping terminal to submit your NRL Finals tips. It's free to enter and you will be aiming to not only tip the winner but also get as close to the winning margin in the first match each week to take out the $1000 prize pool.
Remember also that the Spring Carnival tipping comp is open for tipping and you have the opportunity to win cash prizes and also a trip for 2 to the NT to attend the Darwin races as a thoroughbred racehorse owner for the day!
Look out for the return of the Friday Night Summer Racing comp starting in December and good Luck with your tipping!
